BACKGROUND:

From Richard Hamilton in the 60’s to Andy Warhol in the 70’s and Russell Young in the 2000s, photography of Mick Jagger has long been the subject of ground-breaking Contemporary and Pop Art. Continuing this legacy, Scarlet has taken her own photograph which was taken on June 22, 2003 in Hockenheim, Germany as part of the 'Licks' World Tour, and created a work which sits alongside these iconic art pieces - playing with size, scale, colour and Pop iconography.

BACKGROUND:

From Richard Hamilton in the 60’s to Andy Warhol in the 70’s and Russell Young in the 2000s, photography of Mick Jagger has long been the subject of ground-breaking Contemporary and Pop Art. Continuing this legacy, Scarlet has taken her own photograph on June 22, 2003 in Hockenheim, Germany as part of the 'Licks' World Tour, and created a work which sits alongside these iconic art pieces - playing with size, scale, colour and Pop iconography.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK:

This extra large scale artwork features an intense monochrome portrait of Jagger live on stage with the signature Rolling Stones lips logo on his guitar strap highlighted with a bright red accent. Designed by John Pasche in 1970 for the band after Jagger had suggested the tongue of the Hindu Goddess of destruction, Kali. Inspired visually by both this idea and Jagger's own lips, the most famous band logo was born.

This piece is Scarlet’s most exclusively numbered edition to date, limited to three in total.

TECHNICAL DETAILS:

An extremely limited fine art photograph of Mick Jagger printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag®. Printed with a white border accommodating signature, and edition number. Limited Edition of 3, each hand signed and numbered by Scarlet Page.

Each work measures 70cm x 100cm unframed, and is embossed and hand signed by the artist. This edition #1 is framed in a black box frame, with a white mount, under glass.

Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Scarlet Page
