This work continues the artist’s investigation and exploration into issues and relationships between pressure, tension and equilibrium. The sculpture incorporates the tensile capacity of fabricated steel while bearing a separate mass. The carved form exists as a visual counterpoint to the other elements. The appearance of naturally eroded stones also represents the ancient earth, providing an almost timeless quality that stone characterises.
