ARTWORK NARRATIVE:
The painting resists easy explanation, carrying an atmosphere that is both amusing and strange, unfolding in a spiral of enigma. It originated from a single, instantaneous idea sketch that already contained the complete concept and title. That initial sketch was directly scaled up to the final work in order to preserve its original structure and intent.

The shadows invite associations with islands and geographic forms, while the phoenix motif reflects an ongoing interest in cycles of death and renewal. This theme appears elsewhere in related works, including depictions of a dead phoenix as a central image, as well as earlier conceptual explorations involving animal shadows. Similar imagery of emergence and transformation—such as hatching and embryonic growth—also recurs across other projects, reinforcing a consistent fascination with origins, endings, and rebirth.
