Yorkshire Contemporary Artist

Lisa Srao is an award-winning British contemporary artist based in Yorkshire, known for commanding, large-scale paintings of flowers, wildlife and the natural world. Working primarily in oil on canvas, she combines hyper-realistic detail with dramatic scale, luminous colour and symbolic storytelling. Her paintings are immediately visually striking, yet their deeper purpose is to create an emotional encounter between the viewer and nature.

Flowers are presented not as decorative subjects, but as living portraits of resilience, vulnerability and transformation. Torn edges, curling petals, weathering and unfolding forms become records of growth and experience. Birds and animals enter the compositions as messengers, guardians and silent witnesses, allowing each work to carry a story while leaving space for personal interpretation.

Born in Leeds and shaped by both the Yorkshire landscape and her Indian heritage, Lisa brings together the stillness of the British countryside with a deep appreciation for colour, symbolism and ornament. Before establishing her full-time studio practice, she built an international career spanning more than two decades in marketing, branding and business development, holding senior roles with Universal, MTV, Paramount Pictures, Fox and Star TV. Her experience as an award-winning brand developer continues to inform her assured use of composition, scale, visual impact and narrative.
