Dylan Gill is a London-born Cubist artist whose creative journey began in 1999. He studied fine art at Goldsmiths, University of London, and has since exhibited his work across Europe, including London and Paris, as well as in Asia, notably Singapore and Vietnam. Gill’s artistic approach explores the interplay between shape and colour, drawing inspiration from both traditional and modern narratives. Influenced by artists such as Juan Gris and Jean Metzinger, he seeks to generate new tensions within his compositions. His fascination with human features from a young age informs his exploration of individuality and perception in his paintings.

 

Gill’s work is characterised by skewed and fragmented perspectives, reflecting the complexities of contemporary life and emotional experience. He captures the simultaneous, yet compartmentalised, states of human emotions—depicting figures in moments of joy, anxiety, and contemplation. This approach, which he refers to as “empathetic impressionism,” aims to transform interplays of feeling into vivid, surrealist portraits. By breaking down the barriers between performed and suppressed emotions, Gill’s paintings invite viewers to consider the multifaceted nature of identity and the pervasive influence of external emotional currents in shaping our perceptions.
