Hailing from Manchester, Dave's journey is as colourful as the work he creates. Leaving school with just one GCSE, his first job was delightfully quirky—putting eyes on teddy bears in a toy factory. His artistic flair soon led him to art college, and from there, he carved a path through the advertising world, designing everything from labels for Newton & Ridley beer bottles on Coronation Street to eye-catching campaigns (yes, even for edible dormice!).
After earning a degree in Creative Arts, Dave headed to Amsterdam, where his talents flourished. There, he crafted postcards, strip cartoons, and illustrations for publishers and national icons like Het Parool and Vrij Nederland. His creative portfolio quickly expanded, and today his works grace magazines and newspapers across the UK and beyond.
Dave’s passion for art extends into academia. Armed with a PhD in contemporary art philosophy, he's taught at numerous art colleges and universities and as a seasoned speaker, he's presented on creativity in art and design at conferences in London, Paris, and Singapore. Most recently, he served as Programme Leader for the MA in Visual Communications at the University of Wolverhampton’s School of Art—a place with its own rich history, once home to artist Tom Phillips and alumna Cornelia Parker CBE.
