Clare’s journey began at the prestigious art institution of the Edinburgh College of Art and Leith School of Art before finding inspiration in a pheasant feather and her father’s fountain pen inks, giving birth to Pheasant Feather Art – a journey that evolved from doodles into a diverse portfolio.

Clare uses a unique blend of inks which allows her to capture the essence of her wildlife subjects with a distinct and evocative style. The fluid nature of ink enables her to convey movement and emotion, adding depth and dimension to her paintings and her technique creates a dynamic interplay of colours, enhancing the atmospheric feel of her art.

During the painting process, this technique often leads to the quill’s tip catching upon the canvas which creates a beautiful, directional ink splatter across the painting; a feature so typical in Clare’s beautiful works.

She often showcases her adaptability through collaborations and client-driven creations, gathering accolades such as designing the front cover for the 25th anniversary of the Scone Game Fair, winning the CLA Game Fair 2014 cover design competion, and being shortlisted for Wildlife Artist of the Year, 2014. Clare has worked closely with, and donated paintings to a number of charities including Tusk Trust, Born Free Foundation and GWCT.

Clare has her own new studio at The Hirsel Homestead, just outside Coldstream.
