A growing selection of artworks from Northumberland based sculptor, Mark Bowman

Mark Bowman: Pushing the Boundaries of Sculpture

We are delighted to feature the work of British sculptor Mark Bowman, an artist whose bold exploration of form and material has quickly earned critical acclaim. A former architectural technician and project manager, Bowman transitioned to full-time sculpting in 2023, drawing on a lifetime of hands-on experience with stone, metal, and industrial materials.

Inspired by the organic-meets-structural aesthetic of Santiago Calatrava and sculptors like Henry Moore and Anthony Gormley, Bowman’s work explores themes of erosion, growth, and transformation. His innovative approach sees him carving torsos from aerated concrete blocks or crafting delicate shell forms from laminated plywood - materials repurposed in ways that defy convention.

Since his first public exhibition in 2022, Bowman has rapidly gained recognition, earning awards at the Royal Scottish Academy and Great North Art Show, and exhibiting at prestigious venues including Doddington Hall, The Sculpture Park, and Moncrieff-Bray Gallery.

Bowman’s sculptures, known for their striking blend of technical precision and organic energy, invite viewers to consider the interplay between natural forces and human intervention.

His work is now held in private collections across the UK, Sweden, Italy, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and North America.
