Imogen Morris

Imogen Morris is a contemporary British artist based in Birmingham, working from her studio in Digbeth, a hub for the city’s creative community. Her practice is centred on an innovative nail-and-thread technique, through which she creates portraits and abstract works that sit between drawing, painting, and sculpture. Using thread as a line and surface, she builds form through layers and tension, allowing light and shadow to become an integral part of the work. By combining traditional hand-embroidery methods with contemporary fine art approaches, Morris challenges the boundaries between craft and fine art.
