Steve Sutton

A warm welcome to local sculptor, Steve Sutton

Steve Sutton, a graduate of Winchester School of Art and a prominent artist based in Trafford, shares his artistic journey, exploring the delicate balance between humanity and nature through his sculptures and 3D installations. His artistic ethos resonates with fellow creators such as Andy Goldsworthy, renowned for his ephemeral environmental artworks that highlight the interconnectedness between humans and the natural world, and Cornelia Konrads, whose gravity-defying installations evoke a sense of wonder and contemplation.

Sutton’s work is imbued with themes of pressure, tension, and equilibrium, inviting viewers to engage with the intricate relationships between materials and concepts. As he crafts each piece, he seeks to establish a profound connection between himself and the subject matter, resulting in emotionally charged statements that resonate on a personal level.

In recent years, Sutton has shifted his practice towards sustainability, echoing the ethos of artists like Olafur Eliasson, who uses art as a platform to address climate change and environmental degradation. By employing eco-friendly materials and recycled resources, Sutton endeavors to spark a challenging dialogue with viewers, prompting reflection on humanity’s impact on the natural world.
