A piece that seeks to combine two themes of Steve's work, faces and forms, and uses the properties of Portland stone to create a textural contrast between the skin and the hair.
A piece that seeks to combine two themes of Steve's work, faces and forms, and uses the properties of Portland stone to create a textural contrast between the skin and the hair.
The starting block of stone influenced the whole design, in particular the design of the hair patterns and the scale of the head overall (4/5 life size). Also in this version I wanted to capture the smiling eyes and cheeks that are so often seen in photographs of Sadhus.
The weight of the sculpture is 26.0 kg -
