This work explores the nature of a “safe space” in a protected environment. Its central stone is surrounded by 24 carved segments. They may be proffering a haven or alternatively they could be perceived as menacing, encircling, and threatening. The irregular positioning of other smaller stones may appear less significant but enjoy greater security.
