STEVE SUTTON

Artist and Sculptor | Sale, Greater Manchester

A contemporary sculptor and visual artist based in Trafford, near Sale in Greater Manchester. With a background in fine art from Winchester School of Art and years of experience as an art educator, Sutton now dedicates himself fully to his creative practice.

His work is deeply rooted in environmental themes, exploring the fragile balance between human existence and the natural world. Sutton’s sculptures often reflect on issues such as climate change and sustainability, using materials that are recycled or responsibly sourced. His installations evoke a strong sense of tension and precariousness—visual metaphors for the ecological challenges facing our planet.

Sutton’s distinctive style places him in conversation with artists like Andy Goldsworthy and Olafur Eliasson, yet his voice remains uniquely his own. Through minimalist structures and site-responsive pieces, he invites viewers to engage with questions of equilibrium, impact, and resilience.

Over the years, Sutton has showcased his work across the UK, including notable exhibitions like Precarious Existence at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery and Portals at the Pyramid Arts Centre, a collaborative exploration of identity and nature.

He remains active in the Greater Manchester arts scene, where he continues to develop new work and participate in projects that highlight environmental awareness through the lens of contemporary sculpture.
