MARK BOWMAN
Designer, Sculptor and Artist | Northumberland, England
Mark Bowman is a British sculptor based in the rural landscapes of Northumberland. Originally trained as an architectural technician, he is largely self-taught as an artist. His formative experiences working with a master stonemason, an artist blacksmith, and later on offshore oil rigs have significantly shaped his artistic perspective. These industrial and architectural environments instilled in him a deep appreciation for the relationship between man-made structures and the natural world.
With Hadrian's Wall running along the bottom of his garden, Bowman draws inspiration from the rugged, rural environment around him and his sculptures reflect a dialogue between the enduring power of natural forces and the geometric precision of industrial design. Through his materials and methods, he captures a sense of organic evolution within the constraints of architectural form, resulting in works that are both contemplative and deeply rooted in his life experiences.
