From 2016 to 2019, Thompson served as Photographer-in-Residence at Clonter Opera Theatre in the UK. During this tenure, he photographed celebrated musicians such as The James Pearson Trio (also known as The Ronnie Scott’s All Stars) and some of the world’s finest emerging opera stars. He also documented the behind-the-scenes processes and rehearsals for Clonter’s opera productions of Le nozze di Figaro (2017) and La bohème (2018), along with numerous other rehearsals and concerts. This residency culminated in a large solo exhibition at Clonterbrook Gallery and the self-publication of a hardback book titled A Year In The Life of Clonter. This book is set to be released in its second edition as an e-book in 2023.
