AMANDA HORVATH
Contemporary Abstract Artist | Derbyshire, England
Amanda Horvath is a contemporary British artist renowned for her vibrant, textured paintings that capture the serene beauty of woodlands and natural landscapes. Holding a BA Hons (First Class) in Fine Art from Sheffield Hallam University, she initially shared her expertise through lecturing in painting, printmaking, and life drawing at various colleges. Now dedicated to her personal artistic practice, Amanda works full-time from her studio nestled in the heart of the Peak District, where she resides with her husband.
Amanda's deep-rooted connection to nature, cultivated since childhood, profoundly influences her work. She seeks to capture the spirit of the land and the ethereal quality of light in her paintings, aiming to impart a sense of peace and tranquility. Her creative process begins with immersive walks in the landscape, making preliminary notes that form the foundation of her studio work. Drawing inspiration from Impressionist painters, she employs techniques such as impasto, scumbling, and glazing, applying layer upon layer of highly textured paint using palette knives and brushes. This approach results in expressive works that lie somewhere between abstraction and realism.
Amanda's paintings have been widely exhibited and are held in private collections worldwide. She is represented by leading UK galleries and has participated in numerous exhibitions, including the "Spring Art Show" at Peggy's Art (March 2025) and the upcoming "In Full Bloom" at MacGregor Fine Art Gallery in Glasgow (May-June 2025). Her work continues to resonate with audiences, offering an unspoken conversation with nature through her art.
